You Will Be
The Purchasing Manager of the Expense Purchasing team is responsible for managing day-to-day purchasing activities, ensuring operational efficiency, policy compliance, and service excellence across indirect categories.The manager will oversee a team of Purchasing Specialists (Level I & II), provide coaching and performance oversight, will serve as the primary point of contact for escalations, own operational procurement reporting, and support audit and compliance efforts.This role will support the continuous improvement of the procure-to-pay (P2P) process for indirect spend, with a strong focus on issue resolution, system enablement, and stakeholder support while ensuring smooth and compliant purchasing processes across the company.
What You Will Do
- Lead, coach, and support a team of Purchasing Specialists I & II to ensure effective execution of indirect purchasing transactions.
- Oversee workloads, set performance goals, and conduct regular reviews to drive team productivity and accuracy.
- Promote a collaborative and service-oriented team culture focused on operational excellence
- Ensure compliance with internal purchasing policies, approval hierarchies, and budget controls
- Generate operational reports related to PR/PO volume, cycle times, open items, exception trends, and team performance metrics
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service-level metrics to assess process effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring documentation accuracy, transaction traceability, and compliance with procurement controls
- Maintain and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure team adherence to procurement policies
- Coordinate with Finance and Compliance teams to address audit findings or risk areas
- Contribute to ongoing efforts to enhance policy awareness and user compliance across business units
- Deliver training and support internal stakeholders on procurement systems, purchase workflows, and best practices
- Facilitate change management initiatives for process improvements or system upgrades impacting purchasing
- Identify process inefficiencies and lead initiatives to streamline PR/PO cycles, reduce exceptions, and enhance system usability.
- Collaborate with SS&P Process Excellence team on system updates, testing, and change requests related to purchasing workflows
- Ensure business continuity and knowledge sharing within the team
Key Qualifications
Required Qualifications (Minimum Requirements):
- 7+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement operations, or a related function
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business administration, finance, or related field
- Strong working knowledge of indirect purchasing and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes
- Demonstrated experience with purchasing exception management, invoice matching, and system
troubleshooting
- Excellent management skills and the ability to coach and motivate team members
- Experience supporting internal/external audits and compliance processes
- Proficient in using ERP or procurement systems (Workday preferred)
- Ability to influence outcomes using strong verbal and written communication skills as well as relationships
- Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn

- Procurement experience in a retail or multi-location environment
