Maintenance Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Accountable for maintaining and maximizing the reliability and availability of electrical equipment, power electronics systems, and overall power distribution infrastructure at the site.
• Enhance reliability through continuous improvement initiatives, system upgrades, project execution, and the implementation of advanced diagnostics and online condition monitoring techniques.
• Implement and contribute to the standardization of best practices specific to site electrical systems and assets.
• Apply group-level guidelines and lessons learned (LFIs) to drive reliability improvements. Integrate key shared reliability lessons into engineering technical procedures.
• Lead troubleshooting and provide technical support for major and critical equipment failures or issues at the site.
• Participate in reliability and integrity studies as required.
• Conduct obsolescence analysis and develop asset renewal plans in alignment with long-term site needs.
• Review and manage protection schemes, including relay settings and coordination studies.
• Develop and maintain the power system model using ETAP or equivalent software.
• Ensure upkeep and operational readiness of the electrical testing laboratory.
• Engage in plant turnaround and shutdown activities, ensuring electrical systems are safely managed
• Identify and implement energy conservation initiatives to improve efficiency.
• Provide technical support during due diligence processes for major activities, minor projects, plant expansions, and system modifications.
• Adhere to and enforce all applicable health, safety, environmental, and fire (HSEF) procedures, practices, and electrical safety regulations.
• Participate in and review root cause analyses (RCAs), and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
• Collaborate with asset reliability functions to align with reliability standards and support defect elimination initiatives.
• Work to reduce production losses due to equipment defects, failures, or breakdowns.
• Conduct regular audits to identify gaps and ensure compliance with electrical operation and maintenance best practices and standards.
• Contribute to knowledge management efforts and maintain accurate technical documentation.
• Provide inputs for budgeting and optimizing plant maintenance costs.
