Mainframe / COBOL developer

As an Applications Development Intermediate Programmer Analyst at our company, you will be responsible for participating in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. Your main objective in this role will be to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities in Mainframes, COBOL, DB2, JCL, and VSAM. **Key Responsibilities:** - Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts to identify and define necessary system enhancements - Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups to recommend programming solutions and support customer exposure systems - Analyze applications for vulnerabilities and security issues, conduct testing and debugging - Serve as an advisor to new or lower-level analysts - Identify problems, analyze information, and recommend and implement solutions - Resolve issues independently with limited supervision - Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to senior stakeholders and/or other team members - Assess risk in business decisions and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations **Qualifications:** - 7+ years of strong mainframe experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, DB2 - Strong design and development skills in the mentioned technical stack - Experience in the financial services domain - Excellent communication, analytical skills, and problem-solving experience - Proactive and independent worker with good time management skills - Ability to work in a culturally diverse background - Knowledge of Custody applications is a plus **Education:** - Bachelors degree/University degree or equivalent experience This job description provides a high-level overview of the work performed.
