Mainframe / COBOL developer

As an Applications Development Intermediate Programmer Analyst at our company, you will be responsible for participating in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. Your role will involve contributing to applications systems analysis and programming activities in Mainframes, COBOL, DB2, JCL, and VSAM. **Key Responsibilities:** - Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts to identify and define necessary system enhancements - Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on issues, and recommend programming solutions - Analyze applications to identify vulnerabilities and security issues, and conduct testing and debugging - Serve as an advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts - Resolve issues by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience - Act as a subject matter expert to senior stakeholders and/or other team members - Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and compliance with regulations **Qualifications:** - 7+ years of strong mainframe experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, and DB2 - Strong design and development skills in the above mentioned technical stack - Experience in the financial services domain - Excellent communication, analytical skills, and problem-solving experience - Ability to work proactively and independently to address project requirements - Capability to work as part of a virtual team in a culturally diverse background - Good time management skills - Experience with Custody application is a plus This job description provides a high-level overview of the work performed.
