Mainframe Architect Senior Technical Lead

Position: Mainframe Architect Senior Technical LeadLocation: Noida/Chennai.Experience:8-10 Years

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Provide end-to-end technical leadership for

   business-critical Mainframe applications

2. Lead design, development, enhancement, and support of applications using

   COBOL, DB2, and JCL

3. Act as the

   technical point of contact

   for client stakeholders and delivery teams
4. Analyze and resolve complex production issues, ensuring

   high system availability and stability

5. Perform root cause analysis and drive

   permanent corrective and preventive actions

6. Review and approve technical designs, code, and implementation approaches
7. Ensure adherence to

   coding standards, performance benchmarks, and security guidelines

8. Oversee batch processing, job scheduling, restart/recovery, and performance optimization
9. Support release planning, deployments, and post-release validations
10. Mentor team members and ensure technical knowledge continuity
11. Identify technical risks and dependencies and propose mitigation strategies
12. Provide inputs for effort estimation, planning, and continuous improvement initiatives

Must-Have Skills

1. Strong expertise in

   Mainframe technologies

   : COBOL (Batch), JCL
2. In-depth knowledge of

   DB2

   , including SQL development and performance tuning
3. Proven experience in

   Application Maintenance & Development (ADM / AMS)

4. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex production issues
5. Experience working with

   ITSM processes

   (incident, problem, change management)
6. Ability to lead technical teams in

   onshore-offshore delivery models

7. Excellent communication skills in a client-facing environment

Good-to-Have Skills

1. Experience in

   banking, insurance, or other regulated domains

2. Exposure to

   Mainframe modernization or transformation programs

3. Knowledge of

   batch scheduling tools and performance optimization techniques

4. Familiarity with

   audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements

5. Understanding of

   DevOps or automation concepts for Mainframe environments

Bachelor in Engineering/ Computer Science

Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
