Magnetic Design Engineer UPS System

Job Summary:

Responsible for end-to-end magnetic and filter design and validation for UPS systems (100 kW

1500 kW).

The engineer will independently perform all magnetic-related activities, including design of

inductors, transformers, sine wave filters, and rectifier input/output filters, interact with

manufacturers, finalize components, and develop magnetic validation setups.

The role also includes planning and executing magnetic validation and certification activities,

ensuring high performance, efficiency, and compliance with standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently design and optimize magnetic components (inductors, transformers) for

UPS systems.

• Select magnetic materials and components in coordination with manufacturers.
• Develop and execute magnetic and filter validation setups for prototype testing.
• Plan and carry out magnetic validation and certification activities.
• Perform thermal, flux density, and saturation calculations for magnetic components to

ensure reliable operation.

• Evaluate performance and recommend improvements for efficiency, size, and cost

optimization.

• Prepare detailed reports, drawings, and documentation for all magnetic and filter design

activities.

• Maintain magnetic and filter design libraries for future projects.
• Perform filter design and calculations, including sine wave output filters for inverters,

rectifier input filters, and EMI/EMC LC/RLC filters as required in UPS systems.

• Collaborate with power electronics and thermal teams for integrated system performance.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech. in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (Power Electronics

preferred).

• 5 7 years of experience in magnetic design for UPS or high-power electronic systems

(100 kW 1500 kW).

• Strong experience in inductor, transformer, and filter design, including sine wave filters,

rectifier input filters, and EMI/EMC filters.

• Ability to independently perform all magnetic activities, from design to manufacturer

finalization.

• Experience in magnetic and filter validation setup development and test execution.
• Knowledge of thermal, flux density, and saturation calculations for magnetic components.
• Familiarity with magnetic material selection and core types.
• Good documentation skills for design and validation reports.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience in UPS, inverter, or high-power converter systems.

• Knowledge of EMI/EMC standards and their application in magnetic and filter design.

• Ability to coordinate with power electronics and control teams for optimized system

design.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
