Job Summary

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the transportation of materials, equipment and Over Dimensional Cargo in a safe, cost-effective, and timely manner for both domestic and international shipments. The role involves route surveys, statutory approvals, coordination with multiple stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations for heavy and oversized cargo movement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Selection of appropriate type of vehicle (ie. Trailor, Axle, SPMT, Multi-model, etc) for safe and economic transportation of equipment and raw materials
  • Identify suitable agencies for transportation and issue enquiries.
  • Review offers received from vendors, evaluate and recommend agency for placement of order to SCM department. Optimize logistics costs through efficient planning, vendor negotiation, and route selection.
  • Coordinate internally with various departments and arrange necessary permit required for transportation.
  • Coordinate with transporters, crane operators, port authorities, surveyors, escort agencies, and insurance providers.
  • Monitor loading, lashing, securing, transportation, and unloading activities to prevent damage and delays.
  • Appraise status ODC consignments while enroute to destination.
  • Conduct and review route surveys, identifying constraints such as bridges, road widths, overhead clearances, and load-bearing capacities, if necessary.
  • Prepare detailed logistics execution plans, method statements, and risk assessments for ODC movements.
  • Ensure necessary statutory approvals and permits from relevant authorities (RTO, NHAI, State PWD, Port Trusts, Railways, Traffic Police, etc.) are obtained by transportation agencies
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, legal requirements, and project-specific HSE guidelines during transportation and handling.
  • Maintain documentation including permits, waybills, packing lists, survey reports, and as-built movement records.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Graduate in any discipline.
  • Additional qualification in Logistics / Supply chain management is preferable.
  • Minimum 10 years of Experience in Logistic Management / Transport companys / Fleet management
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and procedures
  • Appropriate communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas EPC sector or industrial engineering is a plus

Skills & Competencies

  • Expertise in ODC route survey and feasibility analysis.
  • Strong coordination and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent understanding of statutory and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to prepare logistics plans, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex logistics challenges.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and logistics tracking/reporting tools.
  • Good communication skills with clients, authorities, and contractors.
