Linux Infrastructure Engineer

As a Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer with 10+ years of experience, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing a Zero-Touch Build, Upgrade, and Certification pipeline for the on-prem GPU cloud infrastructure. Your expertise in Linux systems automation, image management, and compliance hardening will be utilized to automate the full stack, from hardware provisioning to OS and Kubernetes deployment, using 100% GitOps workflows. Your responsibilities will include: - Architecting and implementing a fully automated, GitOps-based pipeline for building, upgrading, and certifying the Linux operating system layer in the GPU cloud stack (hardware, OS, Kubernetes, platform). - Designing and automating Linux image builds using tools such as Packer, Kickstart, and Ansible. - Integrating CIS/STIG compliance hardening and OpenSCAP scanning directly into the image lifecycle and validation workflows. - Managing kernel module/driver automation to ensure version compatibility and hardware enablement for GPU nodes. - Collaborating with platform, SRE, and security teams to standardize image build and deployment practices across the stack. - Maintaining GitOps-compliant infrastructure-as-code repositories for traceability and reproducibility of all automation logic. - Building self-service capabilities and frameworks for zero-touch provisioning, image certification, and drift detection. - Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to strategic automation roadmap initiatives. Your required skills and experience for this role include: - 5+ years of hands-on experience in Linux infrastructure engineering, system automation, and OS lifecycle management. - Proficiency in Ansible, Python, Packer, Kickstart, and OpenSCAP. - Deep expertise with tools like Packer for automated image builds, Kickstart for unattended OS provisioning, OpenSCAP for security compliance, and Ansible for configuration management. - Strong understanding of CIS/STIG hardening standards and their application in automated pipelines. - Experience in kernel and driver management, especially in GPU environments. - Ability to implement GitOps workflows for infrastructure automation. - Knowledge of Linux internals, bootloaders, and provisioning mechanisms in bare-metal environments. - Exposure to Kubernetes, particularly in the context of OS-level customization and compliance. - Strong collaboration skills across various teams including security, SRE, platform, and hardware engineering. Bonus skills that would be advantageous for this role include familiarity with image signing, SBOM generation, secure boot workflows, experience in regulated environments (e.g., FedRAMP, PCI-DSS), and contributions to infrastructure automation frameworks or open-source tools.,
