Library Management: Oversee all facets of the school library, including cataloguing, classification, and shelving of books, periodicals, audio-visual materials, and digital resources. Maintain an organized and user-friendly library environment. Collection Development: Identify and select suitable learning resources, including books, reference materials, e-books, databases, and online resources. Support the curriculum and meet the diverse needs and interests of students and teachers. Reader Advisory Services: Provide guidance and recommendations to students and teachers on suitable reading materials based on interests, reading levels, and academic requirements. Foster a culture of reading and promote literacy throughout the school. Library Instruction: Collaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy skills into the curriculum. Teach students how to access, evaluate, and use information effectively and ethically. Conduct library orientations and research skills workshops for students and staff. Library Technology: Stay updated with emerging technologies and implement digital tools and software to enhance library services. Manage the library's integrated library management system (ILMS), digital catalogues, and online databases. Support students and teachers in utilizing digital resources effectively. Collaboration and Outreach: Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement projects and activities that promote reading, research, and critical thinking. Organize author visits, book fairs, and other events to engage students and the wider school community. Foster partnerships with local libraries and educational institutions. Library Administration: Maintain accurate records of library transactions, including book borrowings, returns, and overdue fines. Monitor the library budget and make recommendations for resource acquisition. Prepare regular reports on library usage, collection development, and other relevant data. QUALIFICATIONS: Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science, Library and Information Science. Should be very fluent in English. Experience: Prior experience working as a librarian, preferably in an educational institution. Familiarity with the NCF, the library guidelines set by CBSE and the specific needs of students in different grade levels is advantageous.
