Lead Software Engineer- Routing/Switching - Optics

As a part of Ciena, you will be contributing to the cutting-edge technology that enables crucial innovations in networking strategy. Your role will involve implementing carrier-grade data communications services and leveraging disruptive technologies like SDN, NFV, and virtualized routing systems. Here's how you will contribute: - Implementing Transceiver/optics bring-up for various electrical/optical/coherent plugs ranging from 10G to 800G - Providing feature support for optics diagnostics monitoring - Troubleshooting and resolving issues in XCVR/Optics bringup and DOM areas - Identifying root causes, diagnosing, debugging, and delivering timely fixes - Offering basic status reporting for your work The Must-Haves for this role include: - Strong C programming skills with expertise in debugging and troubleshooting on Linux platform - Hands-on experience in embedded software development for Optical Transceivers - Familiarity with hardware/software interaction in embedded systems, especially Transceivers - Proficiency in Linux, I2C, SPI, or MDIO - Solid understanding of data structures and design for embedded systems - Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills - Exposure to traffic generators like Ixia or Spirent The Good-To-Haves for this position are: - Experience in end-to-end feature development including CLI, SNMP/Netconf, and hardware abstraction layer - Knowledge of IP networking stack in Linux and IP routing - Hands-on experience and knowledge of Chassis-based multi-line card and pizza box architecture At Ciena, you will be part of an inclusive and diverse work environment that values employee well-being, development, and recognition.
