Lead Software Engineer - Mainframe Developer

The Impact You Will Have in This Role:

As a member of the IT SIFMU Delivery team, you will support core Clearing and Settlement applications for DTC, NSCC, and FICC, as well as Wealth Management Insurance Services. You will also be involved in overseeing Master Reference Data. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure best practices, approaches, and standards are adopted across the organization. In an Agile environment, you will work with the Product Owner (PO) to understand business needs and contribute to planning, definition, and high-level technical design.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

• Act as a technical expert for one or more applications used by DTCC
• Collaborate with the Business System Analyst to ensure designs meet functional requirements
• Partner with Infrastructure teams to identify and deploy optimal hosting environments
• Tune application performance to eliminate and reduce issues
• Research and evaluate technical solutions in line with DTCC technology standards
• Align risk and control processes into daily responsibilities, escalating appropriately
• Apply appropriate software development methodologies based on project needs
• Contribute to the design of components or individual programs, and participate in construction and functional testing
• Support development teams, including testing, fixing, and production support
• Create applications and unit test cases to ensure compliance with functional and non-functional requirements
• Work with peers to improve ways of working, continuous integration, and continuous delivery

Qualifications:

• Minimum 7 years of related experience
• Bachelor's degree (preferred) or equivalent experience

Talents Needed for Success:

• Technical Expertise:

• Experience in designing and developing complex Online and Batch Mainframe Applications using COBOL, CICS, and DB2
• Knowledge of MQ and DB2 Connect for communication with Distributed Web applications
• Working knowledge of Batch jobs using JCL, with catalog procedures and files (PS/PDS/VSAM)
• Experience with scheduling activities using CA-Scheduler
• Proficiency in application programming IDEs for Mainframe (IDZ)
• Working knowledge of Version control/Configuration Management tools (e.g., Changeman)
• Expertise in reverse-engineering Mainframe applications involving DB2 and CICS
• Nice to have: Experience with CI/CD processes for Mainframe
