Lead Piping Designer

As a Lead Piping Designer at Gradiant India Private Limited in Chennai, India, you will be responsible for coordinating with inter-discipline teams, vendors, and clients. Your main focus will be ensuring engineering and design quality, technical accuracy of drawings, and material quantities. You will collaborate closely with the Mechanical design manager to plan and execute projects within the specified timeline and budgeted man-hours. Your involvement in project meetings, design reviews, and progress assessments will be crucial to ensure project objectives are met effectively. Your role will also involve maintaining Quality Control and Compliance standards by ensuring that all piping designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices. Conducting quality control reviews to verify design integrity and safety will be part of your responsibilities. To excel in this role, you must be capable of providing both conceptual and detailed design drawings of water treatment plant piping. Experience with specification of piping components, valves, instruments, vessels, and other mechanical equipment is essential. Proficiency in creating Piping Routing using AutoCAD Plant 3D with respect to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and optimizing Skids & Plant piping is required. You will be responsible for developing 3D Models and ensuring clash-free models in coordination with all other discipline requirements. Your tasks will include the preparation of Equipment layout, Skid piping GA, 2D piping layout, Isometrics, MTOs, pipe support drawings, Pipe rack design input, and Civil and vendor drawing reviews. Familiarity with piping design standards such as ANSI/IS/ASME piping specifications and layouts for water treatment plants is necessary. Understanding relevant design codes like ASME, IS, DIN, and BS codes is crucial for this role. You will also be required to confirm compliance with customer specifications for equipment and material types. Communication skills are vital for this position, as you must effectively communicate in both verbal and written correspondence.
