Lead Network Engineer

As a Firewall Engineer at UST in Trivandrum, your primary responsibility will be to design, configure, and implement CheckPoint and Palo Alto firewalls to ensure strong network security and compliance with corporate standards. You will be tasked with performing regular firewall rule base audits to ensure efficient and secure network traffic management. It will also be your duty to troubleshoot and resolve firewall-related issues in a timely manner, minimizing system downtime. In this role, you will implement security policies and access controls using CheckPoint and Palo Alto security platforms. Additionally, you will monitor firewall traffic and analyze logs to identify security threats or incidents. Your proactive monitoring of firewall systems will involve reviewing security logs and reports for suspicious activities or breaches. As a Firewall Engineer, you will be expected to troubleshoot and resolve security incidents, including network breaches, vulnerabilities, and unauthorized access. You will assist in incident response planning and coordination, ensuring that firewall-related incidents are handled efficiently. It will also be within your responsibilities to perform risk assessments and vulnerability assessments using firewall tools and other security technologies. Moreover, you will configure and optimize firewall features, such as VPNs, NAT, IPSec, SSL, and IDS/IPS systems, to provide a secure network environment. You will implement and manage secure remote access configurations, ensuring proper network segmentation and security policies. Your role will involve optimizing firewall performance to meet the scalability and availability requirements of the business. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to design and implement secure network infrastructures based on CheckPoint and Palo Alto technologies will be an essential part of your job. You will provide guidance on network segmentation and traffic filtering strategies to improve security posture and operational efficiency. Working with network teams to ensure proper integration of firewall solutions with the broader network infrastructure will also be part of your responsibilities. To excel in this role, you should have extensive hands-on experience with CheckPoint and Palo Alto firewalls. A strong knowledge of VPN configurations (IPSec, SSL), NAT, IDS/IPS, and Security Policies is crucial. You should possess a solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, etc.) and routing concepts. Proficiency in firewall rule set management, traffic analysis, and incident troubleshooting is required. Additionally, you should have knowledge of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools for analyzing firewall logs and security events. Familiarity with cloud-based firewall management and secure network design (Azure, AWS, etc.) is beneficial. Proficiency in Linux/Unix or Windows Server administration for firewall management and troubleshooting is also necessary.
