Lead Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems using Node.js.
• Architect and optimize databases (primarily MongoDB) for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Design system architecture and establish coding standards and best practices across the backend team.
• Collaborate closely with Frontend, DevOps, Product, and QA teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Manage deployments and infrastructure using AWS services (ECS, EC2, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, etc.)
• Implement and maintain APIs, services, and integrations with external systems.
• Mentor and guide backend engineers, conducting code reviews and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Drive technical decision-making, proactively identifying risks and recommending solutions.
• Work within Agile (Scrum/Kanban) methodologies using tools like JIRA and Confluence.
• Provide guidanceon troubleshooting and Root CauseAnalysis (RCA) acrossvarious environments.

Technical Skills Required:

• 7+ years of experience in backend development with strong proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript.
• Deep understanding of MongoDB and experience with schema design, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Solid experience with AWS cloud services, infrastructure-as-code, and serverless architecture.
• Strong grasp of backend architecture, microservices, RESTful APIs, and asynchronous processing.
• Proficiency in database management, version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and testing strategies.
• Proven track record of leading engineering teams and delivering large-scale backend systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, and a collaborative mindset.
• Knowledge of security best practices, performance monitoring, and error tracking.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).

Education & Experience:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of professional experience in backend development, with a strong track record in designing and delivering scalable systems.
• 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership or lead engineer role, mentoring developers and driving architectural decisions.
• Demonstrated experience working in agile development environments and collaborating cross-functionally with product and design teams.
• Proven ability to design backend architecture for distributed systems and handle complex data and infrastructure challenges.
