Laser machine operator

As a Laser Cutting Machine Operator, your primary responsibility will be to operate and maintain the laser cutting machine efficiently to meet job requirements. You will be required to set up the machine, load materials onto the machine table, and adjust machine settings such as power, speed, and focus for optimal cutting quality. Your duties will also include preparing for jobs by reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and job sheets. It will be essential to select the appropriate material type and thickness for cutting and verify the accuracy of the cutting program (G-code) before starting operations. Quality control is a crucial aspect of your role, where you will need to inspect cut parts to ensure they meet the specified accuracy and quality standards. You may also have to make minor adjustments to improve cutting precision and report any defects or deviations in cut parts promptly. Maintenance and troubleshooting tasks will involve performing routine maintenance, monitoring gas levels, and troubleshooting minor machine issues. It will be your responsibility to keep the machine in optimal condition and escalate major problems to the maintenance team. Safety compliance is paramount in this role, and you must adhere to all safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring proper ventilation during cutting operations. Maintaining a clean and organized workspace is essential to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. Documentation and reporting are integral parts of the job, where you will be required to maintain records of job completion, material usage, and machine performance. Reporting any machine breakdowns, material shortages, or production issues promptly is necessary for efficient operations. Coordination and communication skills will also be essential as you will work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other machine operators. Effective communication of issues or suggestions for process improvements is crucial for the smooth functioning of the operation.
