Lab Engineer

Job Title:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Material Testing & Quality Control:

• Conduct routine and advanced tests on construction materials such as soil, aggregates, cement, concrete, bitumen, and steel.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, IS codes, IRC codes, MORTH guidelines, and relevant standards.

2. Lab Management:

• Manage day-to-day operations of the site laboratory.
• Maintain calibration of lab equipment and ensure proper upkeep of machinery.
• Maintain all test records and documentation as per audit and project requirements.

3. Quality Assurance:

• Support the Quality Control Engineer in implementing quality systems at site.
• Analyze test results and identify non-conformities or deviations in material quality.
• Initiate corrective actions in coordination with the QA/QC Manager and Site Engineer.

4. Reporting:

• Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly reports on material testing to Project Manager and Quality Head.
• Maintain logs and registers of material testing and approvals.

5. Coordination:

• Coordinate with construction, procurement, and quality teams for timely sampling and testing.
• Interact with consultants, clients, and third-party labs during inspections and audits.

6. Compliance & Safety:

• Ensure the lab operates in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
• Train junior staff/lab assistants in safe and correct testing procedures.

Key Skills Required:

• In-depth knowledge of civil construction material testing methods
• Familiarity with IS/IRC/MORTH standards
• Strong reporting and documentation skills
• Experience in managing site laboratories independently
• Good communication and coordination skills

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to work in high-altitude and challenging terrain (Leh)
• Physically fit and medically cleared for work at altitude
