Job Summary: The Industry 4.0 Lab Assistant will support the day-to-day functioning, maintenance, and operational efficiency of the Industry 4.0 laboratory. The role involves managing advanced hardware, software, automation systems, and digital manufacturing tools. The Lab Assistant will also assist studentscoming from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds—by providing technical guidance, ensuring safe lab practices, and facilitating project-based learning in alignment with the lab’s objectives. Required Educational Qualification:
• BE/B.Tech/Diploma in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution. Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily operation of Industry 4.0 laboratory equipment, tools, and facilities.
• Maintain and troubleshoot hardware systems such as PLCs, sensors, actuators, robotics modules, controllers, embedded systems, and industrial automation kits.
• Support software tools relevant to Industry 4.0, including simulation platforms, IoT dashboards, programming interfaces, digital twin tools, and data acquisition systems. • Ensure proper functioning of networking and IoT connectivity (LAN, Wi-Fi, MQTT, industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC-UA, etc.). • Guide and mentor students working on lab exercises, industrial projects, and research-based assignments. • Demonstrate safe and proper use of lab equipment; enforce safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Assist faculty in preparing lab experiments, demonstrations, and workshops.
• Maintain inventory of lab consumables, components, tools, and electronic modules.
• Coordinate with vendors, technical support teams, and facility management for repairs and upgrades.
• Document lab activities, maintain logbooks, and assist in preparing compliance or audit reports.
• Support interdisciplinary student teams participating in competitions, hackathons, and innovation challenges related to Industry 4.0. Required Skills and Competencies:
• Strong understanding of industry automation, mechatronics systems, and programming fundamentals (e.g., Python, C/C++, PLC ladder logic—added advantage).
• Hands-on experience with microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32, STM32), robotics platforms, and basic prototyping tools.
• Familiarity with IoT platforms, sensor integration, machine communication protocols, and data logging systems. • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues involving mechanical, electrical, or digital components.
• Knowledge of 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) is desirable.
• Good communication skills with the ability to guide students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds across India.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to support simultaneous student projects.
• Patience and a student-friendly attitude, with the ability to simplify technical concepts during guidance.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty, researchers, and multidisciplinary student teams. Additional Attributes:
