Junior Technical Editor

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Editor to join our Copy editing team. The ideal candidate will possess strong command over technical editing, style guidelines, and be capable of independently managing editorial projects with consistency and high quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Experience in style and mechanical editing (light, medium, and heavy), including identifying and tagging all manuscript elements; reference editing and cross-checking; handling extensive notes; and editing figures, tables, boxes, and equations for humanities books and journal projects. Adequate knowledge of style guides such as the Chicago Manual of Style, APA, AMA, MLA, and the Oxford Style Manual is required.
• Strong communication and comprehension skills and a passion for editing are essential. Experience in working with LaTeX files.
• Hands-on experience in reviewing copyedited files from both in-house and freelance editors, with the ability to provide constructive feedback and mentor other editors.
• Ability to understand client requirements and apply the appropriate style to manuscripts accordingly.
• Ability to provide input to the technology team for tool automation. Capability to work effectively both as a team member and as an independent contributor, as needed.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to publisher-specific guidelines.
• Ability to edit PDFs.
• Knowledge of different workflows (books, journals).

 Required Qualifications & Skills

• Any Graduate with Minimum2+years of experience in technical editing.
• In-depth understanding of style editing, including AMA, APA, Chicago or similar styles.
• Strong command of English grammar and language mechanics.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments with consistent quality.
• Edit humanities books/journal articles per client requirements; handle light, standard, and heavy styles; review journals/books/material edited by freelancers and in-house editors, validate the edits, provide constructive feedback, and take accountability for the schedule and quality of projects assigned;
• coordinate with other members of the team as required.

Preferred

• Experience using/testing copy editing tools
• PPT editing and review
• Familiarity with HTML editing environment
• XMLtagging
