Job Description

As a Junior Engineer - Vendor Development, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely progress of machining, fabrication, and manufacturing activities for aerospace components. Your primary responsibilities will include: - Visiting assigned suppliers on a daily basis to monitor the progress of machining, fabrication, and assembly tasks. - Tracking and reporting work-in-progress (WIP) status against planned delivery schedules. - Coordinating with supplier shop-floor teams to identify bottlenecks and escalate any issues that may arise. - Submitting daily status reports regarding component readiness, delays, or quality concerns. - Ensuring that vendors adhere to agreed timelines for prototypes and production batches. - Supporting vendor audits and quality inspections in collaboration with QA teams. - Assisting in logistics coordination for urgent movement of parts. - Maintaining effective communication between suppliers and the Vendor Development Manager. To qualify for this role, you should have a Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering or ITI (Machinist, Tool & Die, Fitter, Turner) along with at least 3 years of experience in machine shop operations/supplier coordination. Basic knowledge of CNC/VMC machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes, as well as the ability to read engineering drawings at a basic level, are essential. Additionally, a two-wheeler license is a must for conducting supplier visits. Key Skills & Competencies required for this role include strong vendor coordination and communication skills, discipline in reporting daily updates and maintaining logs, practical understanding of shop-floor processes, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to proactively escalate issues. A willingness to travel within industrial areas on a daily basis is also necessary. In this on-field role, you will be visiting vendor facilities daily in and around Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and Bangalore. You will be reporting consolidated daily progress to the Manager of Vendor Development, playing a critical support role in ensuring on-time procurement and supplier readiness for aerospace programs.
