Jr. Merchant - (NIFT Preferable)

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Product Development & Sampling
• Work closely with the design team to understand new product requirements, themes, and print directions.
• Develop new printing techniques, finishes, and materials to enhance product aesthetics and value.
• Coordinate with printers, converters, and suppliers for sampling and prototyping.
• Evaluate and approve print quality, color accuracy, and material suitability.
• Sourcing & Vendor Coordination
• Identify and develop new print vendors capable of innovative techniques (digital, screen, offset, heat transfer, sublimation, etc.).
• Negotiate costing, lead time, and quality parameters with suppliers.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships for continuous product improvement and innovation.
• Costing & Commercials
• Prepare cost sheets and quotations for new developments.
• Ensure cost competitiveness while maintaining desired quality standards.
• Support pricing strategy and product positioning decisions.
• Production Handover & Execution
• Prepare detailed tech packs/spec sheets for approved developments.
• Ensure smooth handover from NPD to production teams.
• Support production in resolving any print-related issues or deviations.
• Quality & Compliance
• Ensure all new developments meet the company's quality and compliance standards.
• Conduct print tests, wash tests, and other performance validations as required.
  

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Printing Technology, Fashion Technology, or related field.
• Experience: 1-3 years of experience in product development, preferably in printing (textiles, packaging, garments, or paper products).
• Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of printing processes (screen, rotary, digital, sublimation, offset, etc.).
• Knowledge of color management, inks, and substrates.
• Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) is a plus.
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent coordination and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Creative problem-solving ability and time management.
