Identify and report any mechanical defects, damages, or malfunctions to the supervisor immediately. Perform basic routine maintenance (e.g., lubrication, cleaning) as per manufacturer guidelines. Load Assessment & Rigging Coordination: Assess load weights, understand load charts, and determine appropriate rigging techniques in coordination with riggers/slingers. Ensure the load is properly secured and balanced before lifting. Monitor the stability of the crane during lifting operations, especially on uneven terrain. Communication & Coordination: Communicate effectively with riggers, signal persons, and ground crew using established hand signals, radio communication, or other designated methods. Follow instructions from supervisors and ground personnel diligently. Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all company safety policies, site-specific safety plans, and all relevant national and local regulations (e.g., Indian Standards, OHSAS guidelines). Ensure the area around the crane and the load path is clear of obstructions and personnel during operations. Participate in safety briefings and toolbox talks. Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logbooks of crane operations, hours worked, maintenance performed, and any incidents or near misses. Complete required checklists and reports promptly. Site Awareness: Maintain a high level of situational awareness, constantly monitoring the operating environment, ground conditions, weather, and proximity to other equipment or structures.
