Operate extruder machine, make adjustments, set temperatures and monitor the entire process. Line out all production process in timely manner with minimal wastage. He is responsible for running condition of the extrusion machines. Maintain quality and speed control by continual adjustments of gauges that control temperature, pressure, rolls (where applicable), and speed to material. Troubleshoot quality and processing problems and make correction accordingly. Clean up, change over and set up extruder including mixers, loaders, grinders, gear pumps etc. Figure percentage of and setup virgin regrind, color and additives, shovel regrind material in prescribed time with minimum wastage. He must be able to measure machine performance, scrap, waste and downtime accurately. Complete production report and other paper work as assigned. Adjust and monitor all extruder and forming machine parameters, set up, adjust and maintain extruder die. Perform all required PM procedures: change filters, maintain oil and grease levels, check all safety switches and interlocks. Make certain that scrap material does not accumulated around the machine. Assist in changing over form stacker rolls. Perform general preventative maintenance on equipment. Monitor machines for mechanical problems by listening for unusual noises and visually checking gears, hoses, gauges, materials, etc. Initiates troubleshooting and solving mechanical problems using small hand tools to make adjustments and minor repairs. If unsuccessful in making repairs, notify supervisor and or maintenance for assistance. Ensure adequate materials and rolls (if applicable) are available in the department for production runs. Monitor quality of product being produced and make routine adjustments to maintain specifications. Provide guidance to other members of the department including lower level Machine Operators and helpers. Work safely and ensure helpers in the department are working safely. Must be aware of and follow all safety policy including personal protective equipment, lock out, housekeeping and MSDS. Responsible to identify and report any work hazards, must eliminate hazards within ability. Perform change-over and setup duties when requested. Feel the machine conditions reports in daily basis. Keep general work area clean.
