Java Support Engineer (US Hours)

Job Title: Software Engineer Java support

Location: Chennai

Shift: US Shift

Mode: Hybrid (12 days a month from office)

Role Summary

The Software engineer role is a technical role within the team. They are keen to explore how advances in technology might support ongoing improvement and provide input to the department's strategies, practices, toolkits and processes. 

Technical Responsibilities:

• Minimum 4 Years of software development and design experience in Java based technologies 
• Hands-on experience in developing, maintaining robust software applications, web apps and Backoffice apps.  
• Should possess analytical, design and documentation skills and be able to solve challenging problems 
• Hands on experience in production bug fixes. 
• Hands-on experience writing software in Java and Web using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, and XML 
• Experience building applications using Struts/Spring & J2EE frameworks, Web Services/RESTful services 
• RDBMS experience with exposure to writing Stored Procedures and SQL queries.  
• Exposure to detecting scalability issues performance tuning applications 
• Experience working in both Linux and Windows host environments 
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum  
• Experience working on Shareholder sector is a plus 
• Able to utilize tools like ADO, JIRA, Visio and MS Office tools for documentation and work tracking purposes 

Professional Responsibilities:

• Responsible for software design, development, testing, automation and maintenance of applications across enterprises. 
• Work closely with scrum masters, testers, product owners, and engineering managers in creating project breakdowns, technical delivery schedules, and helping them meet all identified milestones. 
• Create documentation and test scripts supporting the development work. Also provide documentation to Release/implementation teams to help them successfully deploy changes to Production environment. 
• Support business as usual activities (BAU) with Application support and Customer Operations team including but not limited to resolving production defects/problems, performance issues and system outages. 
• Act as a primary support person for applications under his/her responsibility including monitoring for availability and performance. 
• Identify and implement new and improved technologies & tools that would benefit supported systems and business. 
• Work US hours 

Professional skills and Qualities

• Java and Web using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, and XML 
• Struts/Spring & J2EE frameworks, Web Services/RESTful services 
• ServiceNow, GitLab and Monitoring tool 
• Awareness of Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, build pipelines 
• SQL, PL/SQL 
• ADO, JIRA, Eclipse/STS and MS Office 

Domain Knowledge

• Experience in Shareholder welcomed
