Role & responsibilities

The Supervisor / Technician will be responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring smart meter installation (MI) activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs). This role combines technical expertise in meter installation with supervisory responsibilities, including team allocation, stakeholder coordination, progress reporting, and training to achieve project objectives efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work Front Coordination:

    Discuss with sub-division officials to confirm work front availability and assess MI potential.
  • Team Allocation & Leadership:

    Assign and lead MI teams daily for installation activities; motivate and guide technicians.
  • Meter Installation:

    Execute smart meter and gateway installations as per project timelines.
  • Planning & O&M Activities:

    Plan and perform Operations & Maintenance tasks for installed meters.
  • Progress Monitoring:

    Track MI progress during the day and update reports on a daily basis.
  • Safety Oversight:

    Ensure adherence to safety protocols, PTW (Permit to Work),and conduct morning PEP talks on safety procedures.
  • Meter Management:

    Provide daily details of old meter submissions and maintain accurate records.
  • Consumer Indexing:

    Maintain accurate consumer indexing records during installation.
  • Stakeholder Liaison:

    Maintain daily communication with stakeholders for smooth execution of MI activities.
  • Training:

    Conduct training sessions for MI teams on installation techniques and safety compliance.
  • Compliance:

    Ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) across all activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical Expertise:

    Hands-on experience in installing smart meters and gateways.
  • Leadership:

    Ability to lead and motivate a team of technicians.
  • Digital Tools:

    Familiarity with Workforce Management (WFM) systems and mobile applications.
  • Project Management:

    Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Communication:

    Excellent liaison and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Safety Knowledge:

    Understanding of safety standards and PTW procedures.

Note

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diploma/ITI in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Knowledge of O&M practices and consumer indexing processes.
