IT Manager

The School IT Manager is responsible for overseeing the technology infrastructure, systems, and services within a school. This role involves managing the IT team, maintaining network and hardware systems, implementing technology initiatives, and ensuring efficient IT operations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

IT Infrastructure Management:

• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the school's IT infrastructure, including network, servers, and hardware.
• Ensure the availability, reliability, and security of network systems, including wired and wireless connections.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
• Coordinate with vendors for the procurement and installation of IT equipment and software.
• Manage software licensing and updates, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

Technical Support and Helpdesk:

• Provide technical support to staff and students, addressing hardware, software, and network-related issues.
• Establish and maintain a helpdesk system to track and resolve user requests and incidents.
• Train and guide end-users on the effective use of technology resources and software applications.
• Develop and maintain user documentation and training materials.

Data Security and Privacy:

• Implement and maintain security measures to protect sensitive data, including user accounts, student records, and financial information.
• Monitor and respond to security threats and vulnerabilities, implementing appropriate safeguards.
• Create and enforce IT policies and procedures to ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
• Conduct regular backups of critical data and implement disaster recovery plans.

Technology Integration and Project Management:

• Collaborate with school administrators and educators to identify technology needs and opportunities for improvement.
• Research and evaluate new technologies, software applications, and educational tools.
• Develop technology plans and strategies aligned with the school's objectives.
• Lead and manage technology projects, including system upgrades, software implementations, and infrastructure expansions.
• Coordinate training sessions and workshops for staff on new technologies and software applications.

Education Qualification & Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience in IT management, preferably in an educational or similar setting.
• Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, systems administration, and information security.
• Familiarity with educational technologies, learning management systems, and student information systems.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
• Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of data protection and privacy regulations.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or ITIL (preferred).
