IT Engineer - SQL DBA

The Database Administrator (DBA) designs, manages and administers database management systems.

He/she ensures the consistency, quality, safety and permanent accessibility of information.

Responsibilities

Administering and maintaining databases in operational condition:

- Guaranteeing data availability and quality

- Defining access permissions and data security issues

- Implementing backup systems to ensure the integrity of all database data

- Ensuring that backups are made in accordance with the strategy defined by each business line

- Ensuring the ability to restore data in the event of an incident or for investigation purposes

- Providing development teams and application support teams with new versions of databases

- Making version changes, managing obsolescence

- Deploying security patches published by database software publishers according to the frequency defined by BNP Paribas

- Implementing the monitoring and alert mechanisms necessary for the proper functioning of the databases (availability and capacity management)

- Updating documentation on database structure and operating procedures

- Ensuring technological monitoring in order to maintain the suitability of performance and database specificities for meeting needs

- Implement automation procedures to manage reoccurring events or updates to the databases system.

Providing technical support to users

- Providing support to developers and application support teams

- Intervening in the event of incidents which limit the performance of databases or access to information

- Active participation in post-mortems for major and/or recurring database incidents

- Incident contribution. Assist the incident management team and be first point of contact for Arval network related incident.

- Be autonomous on his asset (Senior to expert level) and motivated on the daily tasks.

- Be an active member of the squad (often multi-technologies).

- Be proactive by raising alerts when its flagged, try to understand the global context and suggest how to solve an issue (without focusing only on his subpart). it will also help to understand better the rest of the team (who will not necessarily work on the same tool)

- Have proper communication with the Business (English language)

- Have some knowledge regarding monitoring tools (Dynatrace, )

- Provide his/her technical expertise to suggest optimization and technical enhancements

Specific Technical skills required for this role:

- Database Systems : MySQL, PostGre, MSSQL, MongoDB

- Knowledge of the resilience procedures of IT production: DRP
