IT Consultant (GIS) - Bihar

Role & responsibilities

Prior experience working with Government organizations/ PSUs in the relevant field will be given preference.

• Design, develop and manage GIS applications to support various projects and initiatives
• Analyze spatial data through mapping software and identify spatial relationships and patterns.
• Create maps and other visual representations of geographical data for use by senior management and project teams.
• Maintain and update GIS databases and ensure the accuracy of the data.
• Collaborate with other applications to integrate GIS capabilities into their projects and workflows.
• Conduct spatial analysis and provide insights to support decision making processes.
• Assist in preparation of reports, presentations and documentation related to GIS projects.
• Lead the IT and e-Governance assessment of existing systems.
• Identify functional and technical gaps in current IT systems and recommend enhancements.
• Support design of the IT and digital transformation roadmap, including modernization plans and adoption of advanced technologies such as AI, GIS, and real-time dashboards.
• Assist in drafting IT architecture, workflows, process improvements, and integration strategies for MGDs digital ecosystem.
• Provide technical advisory support in preparing RFPs, technical evaluations, and bid process management, if required.
• Monitor ongoing IT initiatives, assist in review of system integrator deliverables, and provide timely inputs to MGD for decision-making.
• Contribute to capacity building by conducting knowledge-sharing sessions on technology trends and best practices.
• Support change management activities related to IT adoption within MGD.

Preferred candidate profile

• Proficiency in GIS software
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of programming language (e.g. Python, SQL) is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Mandatory

• Minimum BE/ B.Tech/ MCA/ MSc (IT) or equivalent
• 8+ years of relevant IT Industry experience.

Desirable

• MBA
• Prior Government experience
