IP Billing Executive

Role Summary

The IP Billing Executive is responsible for end-to-end inpatient billing operations, including corporate billing, insurance billing, cash billing, discharge processing, package management, and coordination with clinical teams to ensure timely and accurate billing as per hospital protocols.

Key Responsibilities

1. In-Patient Billing

  • Prepare, verify, and finalize inpatient bills with accuracy.
  • Ensure real-time posting of services, investigations, consumables, and procedures in HIS.
  • Coordinate with wards, ICU, and clinical teams for billing updates.

Corporate Billing

  • Handle corporate tie-up billing as per agreed tariff and corporate policies.
  • Ensure correct application of corporate packages, billing inclusions/exclusions.
  • Coordinate with corporate desk for approvals, documentation, and billing discrepancies.
  • Prepare final corporate bill summary and ensure timely submission for payment.

3. Insurance Billing

  • Process cashless and insurance workflows including pre-authorization, enhancements, approvals, and final billing.
  • Coordinate with TPA desk for document submission and clarifications.
  • Ensure accuracy of ICD codes, procedure codes, and insurance-compliant documentation.
  • Handle insurance disallowances and support in minimizing claim rejections.

4. Cash Billing

  • Manage cash billing for IP patients as per hospital guidelines.
  • Collect advance deposits, adjust payments, and maintain accurate cash records.
  • Process refunds and settlements as per policy.
  • Ensure adherence to finance and audit standards for all cash transactions.

5. Discharge Billing

  • Ensure timely closure of discharge bills within defined TAT.
  • Coordinate with Nursing/Doctors for pending orders or updates.
  • Provide final bill explanation to patients and families.

6. Audit & Compliance

  • Adhere to hospital billing policies and financial SOPs.
  • Ensure zero billing errors and maintain proper documentation for audits.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements.

7. Query Handling

  • Address billing-related queries from patients, departments, corporates, and TPAs.
  • Resolve discrepancies promptly.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in IP Billing, preferably in a multispecialty hospital.
  • Experience in

    Corporate Billing, Insurance Billing, and Cash Billing

    is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of inpatient billing processes and package billing.
  • Experience with HIS/EMR systems.
  • Understanding of insurance and TPA workflows.

Skills & Competencies

  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and patient-handling skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet discharge TAT.
  • Good coordination with clinical and non-clinical teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and hospital billing software.
  • Ability to work in rotational shifts.
