Role Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic intern to provide academic and behavioral support to a Grade 6 student on the ASD spectrum. The intern will work closely with the student, teachers, and the counsellor to ensure the student receives the necessary support to succeed in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Build a Strong Rapport with the Student - Develop a trusting and positive relationship with the student to create a comfortable learning environment. - Invest time in getting to know the student, their preferences, their areas of interest.
2. In-Class Academic Support - Be present in Grade 6 classes to provide academic assistance. - Offer prompts and gentle reminders to help the student stay on task. - Adapt classroom material to make it accessible and engaging for the student. (for example, helping the student create a mindmap of the teach part going on in the class) - Coordinate with the subject teachers to have extra worksheets ready to use in the classroom. (For example: a note taking structure for SST class, extra operations to work on in Math)
3. Behavior Management & Action Steps - Have 2-3 check-in spaces with the student to reinforce self-regulation strategies that are being driven by the counsellor in her sessions. - Work with the student to reiterate action steps in case of a behavioral breakdown. - Be present to separate the student in case of a behavioral breakdown and help the student regulate and re-join the class (any physical fights)
4. Observation & Reporting - Observe classroom interactions to identify potential triggers for the student. - Share insights with school leadership and the counsellor to strengthen support strategies. - Document patterns of behavior and progress over time.
5. Parent Collaboration & Home Visits - Develop a strong relationship with the parent to align support strategies at home and school. - Conduct regular home visits to gain insights into the student’s environment and challenges. Ideal Candidate: Passionate about working with neurodiverse students. Patient, empathetic, and proactive in providing student support. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to adapt to the student’s needs and classroom dynamics

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
