About the Role

Instrumentation & DCS Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Instrumentation & Field Activities

  • Monitor, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain field instruments such as

    pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, flow meters, level sensors, control valves, MOVs, vibration sensors, and gas detectors

    .
  • Ensure proper functioning and health of instruments installed on

    wellheads, separators, manifolds, heaters, pipelines and ESD systems

    .
  • Perform routine checks, daily activity logs, and preventive maintenance of all instrumentation systems.
  • Coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams to resolve multidisciplinary equipment issues.

DCS/PLC Operations & Logic Management

  • Monitor process parameters and alarms through the

    DCS

    and take corrective actions based on field conditions.
  • Modify DCS

    logic, interlocks, function blocks, control strategies, and alarm configurations

    as per operational requirements.
  • Support optimization of control loops (PID tuning etc.) for stable and efficient well pad operations.
  • Implement changes in

    DCS architecture

    , create/modify tags, and update system documentation.
  • Work closely with production and HSE teams to incorporate safety-critical logic changes (ESD, process interlocks, permissives).

Operational Support & Compliance

  • Support daily operations to ensure continuous

    oil and gas production

    , minimize downtime, and ensure safe running of surface facilities.
  • Participate in incident analysis, RCA (Root Cause Analysis), and corrective action implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with

    OISD

    , safety standards, and company SOPs.
  • Prepare daily/weekly instrumentation reports and maintain updated calibration records.

Skills & Experience Required

Technical Skills

  • Diploma / B.Tech in

    Instrumentation Engineering / Electronics & Instrumentation / Control Engineering

    .
  • Hands-on experience with field instrumentation used in Oil & Gas sites.
  • Good working knowledge of

    Distributed Control Systems (DCS)

    Honeywell / Emerson DeltaV / Yokogawa / ABB (experience with any platform acceptable).
  • Ability to modify and troubleshoot DCS

    logic, SFCs, interlocks, and function blocks

    .
  • Strong understanding of

    control philosophy, P&IDs, loop diagrams, cause & effect charts

    , and instrumentation drawings.
  • Familiarity with

    HART, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus

    protocols is an advantage.

  • Ability to work in remote field locations.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset and quick decision-making ability.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Safety-first attitude aligned with O&G industry standards.

Preferred Experience

  • 28 years of experience in

    Instrumentation & DCS

    in Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, or Heavy Industrial O&M.
  • Experience in

    well pad operations

    , production surface facilities, or gas/oil gathering stations is highly desirable.
