Role & responsibilities: We are seeking an experienced Requirements Migration Specialist to lead the end-to-end migration of requirements data and artifacts from IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS Next Generation (DOORS NG) to Jira, including integration with Requirements for Jira (R4J) or other plugins. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of both tools, OSLC standards, and experience in data transformation and Agile/DevOps environments. Key Responsibilities • Assess and Analyze the current DOORS NG environment and artifacts (Modules, Requirements, Links, Attributes, Attachments). • Design a migration strategy to move requirements to Jira (Cloud/Data Center) using tools like: CSV/JSON importers, OSLC REST APIs, Custom scripts (Python/Java), Connectors like Tasktop, Kovair, OpsHub, or custom solutions. • Perform data mapping from DOORS NG artifacts to Jira issue types (Epics, Stories, Tasks, Bugs) and R4J hierarchy. • Ensure migration includes: Requirement structure and hierarchy, Custom attributes, Comments, links, attachments, Traceability matrices. • Develop scripts and reusable frameworks for automation of export/import. • Conduct data validation and user acceptance testing (UAT) with stakeholders. • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Project Managers, and Tool Admins. • Provide documentation, migration logs, and post-migration support. Required Skills and Experience • Strong expertise in IBM DOORS NG and understanding of modules, artifacts, link types, baselines. • Proficiency in Jira (Cloud or Data Center) with experience in R4J or equivalent plugins like Jama Integration, Xray, etc. • Experience with OSLC API, REST API, and data extraction techniques. • Hands-on with Python, Java, or scripting for automation. • Experience in Agile/SAFe delivery environments. • Familiar with tools like Excel, CSV importers, and Atlassian plugin ecosystem. • Good understanding of ALM toolchains and cross-tool integrations. • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Requirements Migration Engineer with hands-on experience in migrating requirements from IBM DOORS to Atlassian Jira. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in requirements engineering, be proficient in both tools, and be capable of accurately mapping, transforming, and validating complex requirement structures across platforms. EDUCATION PREFERRED: Degree in Computer/Electronics/Communication/Electrical Engineering EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: 3+ years of experience working with IBM DOORS (including DOORS Classic and/or DOORS Next Generation). 2+ years of experience with Atlassian Jira, including workflows, custom fields, automation, and JiraQuery Language (JQL). Proven experience with data migration projects involving requirements management systems. RESPONSIBILITIES: Analyze and understand existing requirements housed in IBM DOORS. Develop and execute a structured plan to migrate requirements data from DOORS to Jira. Map custom attributes, traceability links, and requirement hierarchies from DOORS to equivalent structures in Jira (using Jira Core/Software/Advanced Roadmaps/Jira Align as applicable). Collaborate with business analysts, systems engineers, and tool administrators to ensure accurate translation of requirements. Use available APIs or middleware tools (e.g., Tasktop, OpsHub, custom scripts) for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL). Validate data integrity post-migration, ensuring completeness, traceability, and compliance with project or organizational standards. Provide documentation and training materials for end-users and stakeholders post-migration. Troubleshoot issues during migration and recommend improvements to tools or processes. OTHER COMPETENCIES: Experience with Jira Align, Confluence, or other Atlassian ecosystem tools. Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, JavaScript) for automation and data handling. Familiarity with ReqIF format or OSLC integrations.
