HVAC Engineer

Role & responsibilities

1. HVAC Operation and Maintenance

• Operate, monitor, and maintain Air Handling Units (AHUs), Terminal HEPA units, Chillers, Air Compressors,and associated HVAC utilities.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of HVAC systems as per approved schedules and SOPs.
• Ensure optimal performance of filters (G4, M5, F9, H13/H14) and coordinate timely replacement based on pressure drop trends.
• Maintain and monitor differential pressure, temperature, and relative humidity (RH) in classified rooms through Building Management System (BMS) or Environmental Monitoring System (EMS).

2. Environmental Monitoring & Control

• Continuously monitor and record room environmental parameters Temperature, RH, DP, and Particle Counts — to ensure compliance with defined alert and action limits.
• Investigate deviations or alarms (e.g., temperature/RH excursions, DP failure) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Coordinate with the Quality team for periodic Environmental Monitoring validation and HVAC performance trending.

3. HVAC Qualification & Validation

• Participate in HVAC Qualification activities — IQ/OQ/PQ of new or modified systems.
• Conduct and support qualification tests such as:
• Non-Viable Particle Count (NVPC)
• Airflow Visualization (Smoke Study)
• Air Change Rate & Velocity Measurement
• Class Recovery Test
• Temperature and RH Mapping
• Differential Pressure Verification
• Review and maintain validation documents, protocols, and reports as per GMP and regulatory expectations.

4. BMS / EMS Operation and Monitoring

• Operate and monitor BMS and EMS systems for real-time tracking of environmental conditions across manufacturing and QC areas.
• Configure set points, acknowledge alarms, and maintain system backups and calibration records.
• Support integration and troubleshooting of field devices — temperature/RH sensors, DP transmitters, airflow sensors, etc.

5. Compliance and Documentation

• Ensure all maintenance and operation activities are performed in accordance with GMP, WHO, EU, and USFDA guidelines.
• Prepare and maintain equipment logbooks, calibration certificates, maintenance checklists, and system trend reports.
• Participate in internal and external audits, respond to observations related to HVAC systems, and support closure of audit actions.

6. Utility Coordination

• Coordinate with the Utility team for operation and maintenance of chillers and chilled water pipelines.
• Ensure continuous availability of required chilled water flow and temperature for HVAC load balancing.

7. Continuous Improvement

• Analyze HVAC system performance and identify opportunities for energy optimization and reliability improvement.
• Implement automation and control enhancements through BMS optimization.
• Participate in risk assessments, deviation handling, and change controls related to HVAC systems.
