The role involves conducting safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards. You will be responsible for performing risk assessments for construction activities, implementing control measures, and organizing safety training sessions for all site personnel. In case of accidents or near-misses, you will investigate root causes and recommend corrective actions. Additionally, you will develop and implement emergency response plans, conduct drills, and ensure preparedness. Monitoring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will also be required to maintain accurate records of safety activities, incidents, and training sessions. To qualify for this position, you should have a degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety officer role, preferably in the construction industry, is required. You must possess a strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations and practices in the construction industry. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role. This position will require on-site work at construction project locations with occasional extended hours depending on project timelines. You should be able to conduct site inspections and work in various weather conditions. Occasional travel between different project sites may be necessary.
