HPC Engineer

As a Senior HPC Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and running bioinformatic workflows/pipelines by leveraging and managing WDL engines such as miniWDL, Slurm, and R on the AWS cloud. Your primary focus will involve utilizing technologies like AWS Parallel Cluster, R Workbench, Batch, ECS, and Kubernetes. Your technical skills should include proficiency in AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, RedShift, FSX, EFS, IAM, Batch, Cloud Formation, Python, and bash scripting. Experience with Slurm, R Workbench, Package Manager, Docker, and configuring Slurm partitions will be essential for this role. Key responsibilities will include developing and running bioinformatic workflows/pipelines, ensuring scalability by configuring R Workbench with backends like Slurm and Kubernetes, and utilizing Docker containers. You should also be proficient in converting standalone jobs to Slurm and have a good understanding of ECS, RDS, and S3. Desired experience range for this role is 8-12 years with a strong background in AWS services and bioinformatics. Additionally, having knowledge of Dockers, ECS, and good expertise in bioinformatic workflows will be advantageous. In this role, you are expected to work on AWS cloud platforms using technologies like AWS Parallel Cluster, R Workbench, Batch, and ECS. Your ability to work effectively with R Workbench will be crucial for meeting the job expectations.
