Hospital Lab Tech II

As a Hospital Lab Tech II at UC San Diego, you will be responsible for all pre-and post-analytical activities in the clinical laboratory setting. Your duties will include direct supervision of staff, problem-solving related to specimen acquisition and processing, and organizing lab test results. You will also establish specimen collection priorities, process specimens, and distribute them for testing as needed. Key Responsibilities: - Supervise staff and ensure proper specimen collection procedures are followed - Review and organize lab test results, establish collection priorities, and distribute specimens for testing - Provide customer service support by responding to inquiries related to lab activities and test results - Check requisitions for completeness and follow up on any issues with staff - Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in work performance - Utilize MS Office applications and demonstrate strong communication skills Qualifications Required: - Graduation from college with a major in an applicable natural science or equivalent education and experience - Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) - Minimum of one year of related lab experience, preferably in a large healthcare organization - Knowledge of infection control procedures, scientific terminology, and patient comfort/safety - Proficiency in MS Office applications and strong communication skills Additional Details: UC San Diego Health is the only academic health system in the San Diego region, offering leading-edge care in patient services, biomedical research, education, and community outreach.
