Position Overview
The Head of Department for Robotics & Innovation leads CHIREC's vision for future-ready learning by empowering students to think creatively, solve problems, and use technology to build real-world solutions. The role drives a culture of innovation across campuses and ensures that Robotics and 3D Design programmes are progressive, engaging, and aligned with global best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Build a school-wide culture of innovation that encourages curiosity, creativity, experimentation, and problem-solving.
- Champion student innovation by designing opportunities for learners to imagine, prototype, and bring their ideas to life.
- Oversee the Robotics & 3D Design curriculum from Grades 1 to 8 across all CHIREC campuses, ensuring vertical progression, hands-on learning, and alignment with future skill needs.
- Lead the Robotics & 3D Design department by guiding teachers, supporting classroom practice, and maintaining high instructional standards.
- Spearhead the CHIREC Innovation Hub & Maker's Space, ensuring it functions as a vibrant space for makers, tinkerers, and young engineers.
- Coordinate student and school participation in external competitions, innovation challenges, hackathons, exchange programmes, and tech-focused events.
- Identify and manage partnerships with organizations, universities, and industry experts that enrich the school's innovation ecosystem.
Qualifications & Skills
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or related fields) required. Master's degree preferred.Certifications or specialized training in Robotics, 3D Design, STEM Education, Maker Education, Design Thinking, or related domains highly desirable.
Professional Experience
Minimum 710 years of experience in STEM, Robotics, or Innovation-focused teaching and learning environments.At least 35 years in a leadership role (HOD, Lead Teacher, Programme Coordinator, or equivalent) within an educational institute, innovation lab, or tech-learning organisation.Proven experience designing or managing hands-on, project-based learning programmes, particularly in robotics, 3D design, maker spaces, or innovation hubs.Demonstrated ability to coordinate school participation in innovation competitions, hackathons, and external STEM events.
