Heavy Fabrication Head

Key Responsibilities

• Read & Interpret Plans: Analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Measure & Mark: Accurately mark out metal pieces for cutting and shaping.
• Cut & Shape: Use machinery (saws, shears, presses) to cut, bend, roll, and punch heavy metal plates and sections.
• Assemble & Fit: Tack-weld, bolt, or rivet components into sub-assemblies or complete structures.
• Weld: Join metal parts using various welding techniques (arc, gas).
• Inspect & Finish: Perform grinding, chiseling, lapping, and quality checks to meet standards.
• Maintain Equipment: Keep tools and machinery in good working order.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in welding, fitting, reading blueprints, operating heavy machinery.
• Physical Ability: Strong physical condition for heavy lifting, climbing, and working in various conditions.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy for precise fits and strong welds.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues during fabrication.
• Experience: Often requires a background in metalwork, potentially an ITI or diploma.
