Job Description

Role Overview: As a Manager/Sr. Manager - Head Propulsion Systems in the Engineering Outfitting department at Ship Construction Site, you will be responsible for the leadership, planning, and supervision of the final installation, alignment, testing, and commissioning of the vessel's complete Propulsion Train, including Main Engines, Gearboxes, Shafting, Propellers, and Steering Gear. Your role will ensure high-precision mechanical installation conforming to IACS/Class Society standards and manage technical integration with hull and auxiliary systems. Key Responsibilities: - Develop detailed installation micro-plans, allocate work, and drive the propulsion section to meet project milestones, budget, and man-hour targets. - Lead the execution of all main machinery installations, supervise shaft alignment, stern tube and rudder boring, and final resin/metal chocking to ensure stability and precision. - Direct the hook-up and testing of auxiliary systems critical to the propulsion train, ensuring seamless integration. - Ensure all installation procedures adhere to Class Society rules and project's Quality Assurance Plan, coordinate inspections, and maintain documentation for certification. - Lead pre-commissioning checks, manage Basin Trials, and provide expert support during Sea Trials until vessel acceptance. - Monitor installation progress, track materials and progress, resolve technical challenges, and enforce Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment standards. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical, Marine Engineering, or Naval Architecture. - Certification in Project Management or Class/Quality standards is a plus. - 12 to 18 years of experience in Shipbuilding/Ship Repair industry, with 6-8 years in a senior role responsible for machinery installation and trials. - Expertise in marine engine installation, optical/laser alignment, stern tube/rudder stock boring, and resin chocking procedures. Knowledge of IACS/Class Rules and production planning. - Strong leadership, team management, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
