Head of Software Development

As the Head of Software Development at Renie, you will play a crucial role in leading our engineering team in a remote work-from-home setup based in India. Your primary responsibility will be to provide technical expertise in full-stack development, infrastructure, and mentorship while ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions. Your key responsibilities will include: - Leading and mentoring a team of developers specializing in frontend, backend, and DevOps. - Driving architecture decisions for React/Next.js frontend and Node.js/Express backend development. - Overseeing database design and performance optimization using PostgreSQL. - Managing and optimizing AWS infrastructure components such as ECS, EC2, RDS, and S3. - Taking ownership of the software development lifecycle from initial planning to final release. - Setting realistic development timelines and ensuring deliverables are met. - Implementing best practices in coding, testing, CI/CD, and security protocols. - Collaborating closely with product and design teams to align technical solutions with business objectives. - Conducting regular code reviews and providing guidance for continuous improvement and growth. To excel in this role, you should possess: - Proven experience in a technical leadership position, preferably as a lead or head of development. - Proficiency in frontend technologies like React, Next.js, backend technologies such as Node.js, Express, and database management with PostgreSQL. - Hands-on experience with AWS services like ECS, EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, among others. - Familiarity with containerized applications using Docker, ECS, or EKS. - Sound knowledge of system design, architecture principles, and DevOps practices. - Strong organizational skills to create and manage development timelines effectively. - A passion for mentoring and upskilling developers within the team. - Exposure to infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation. - Understanding of serverless architecture, microservices, and proficiency in testing frameworks and CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins.
