As the HEAD OF REPORTING OPERATIONS at HSBC, your role will involve end-to-end process ownership and management of various reporting requirements within the Global Finance business unit. Your key responsibilities will include: - Managing the preparation and assurance of all BAU reporting requirements, including financial statements, regulatory reporting, and submissions into HSBC Group reporting processes. - Leading the reporting operations team to produce timely, accurate, and complete reports and commentary. - Defining the reporting process, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and managing incidents and stakeholder relationships effectively. - Ensuring that all outputs are prepared in accordance with regulatory and accounting policies, with a focus on control design and compliance. - Collaborating with external regulators as delegated by Entity Financial Controller. In terms of leadership and teamwork, you will be responsible for developing a skilled reporting team, managing operational risks, and promoting collaboration across Global Finance teams. You are encouraged to adopt new ways of working, such as Agile, and leverage technology to enhance reporting processes. Your role will also involve maintaining operational effectiveness and control by proactively improving processes, resolving queries, and reassessing operational risks. You will be expected to implement the Group Compliance Policy and contain compliance risk in alignment with relevant departments. Some of the major challenges you may face include adapting to new accounting, regulatory, and disclosure requirements, producing complex financial information under the Sarbanes Oxley Act, and managing deliverables within defined budget/resources. To excel in this role, you should possess strong communication skills, experience in accounting and regulatory reporting, an understanding of control frameworks, and the ability to analyze complex problems. Additionally, a good grasp of financial products, relationships with stakeholders, and an interest in leveraging technology for process improvements will be beneficial.
