Head of Engineering - Detailed Design (Railway Projects)

Role Summary:

Head of Engineering

Role & Responsibilities:

• Lead the engineering design function for railway infrastructure and systems projects.
• Manage end-to-end delivery of detailed design packages in alignment with project scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Drive profitability through full P&L ownership, budget control, and resource optimization.
• Oversee invoicing cycles and ensure accurate billing and cash flow alignment.
• Act as the principal engineering liaison for clients, ensuring satisfaction and alignment with project goals.
• Support pre-contract activities, proposals, and technical strategy development.
• Mentor and lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across various project phases.

Key Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelors or Masters in Electrical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical.
• 20+ years experience in railway infrastructure or systems design.
• Strong understanding of rail engineering standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience managing P&L, invoicing, and commercial performance of projects.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships in complex, high-value engineering environments.
• Familiarity with railway design tools and platforms (e.g., Bentley, AutoCAD Rail, BIM).
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
