Job Description

As a Hardware Engineer at Common Hardware Group (CHG) Power, you will be a part of a central team dedicated to supporting power design across a variety of products, such as Cisco 8000 Series Routers, Catalyst 9000 switches, IoT devices, and more. In this role, you will collaborate with different functions including Hardware Design and Test, ASIC Design and Test, Power Engineering, Signal Integrity, EMC / EMI, and Mechanical Design. By working closely with these teams, you will expand your knowledge base, contribute to designing power solutions, and deliver exceptional products to the market. Your primary responsibilities will include developing highly reliable power solutions for Cisco's networking products, which range from 10W IP phones to 3000W+ Data Center and Service Provider switches and routers. You will play a key role in the power development team, overseeing all design aspects of system power. Additionally, you will be involved in developing and qualifying system power to meet the requirements of new products, executing test plans for upcoming power designs, documenting procedures and specifications, and assisting in resolving power-related field/product issues for assigned projects. Engaging with power supply vendors to ensure the development of power supplies that meet Cisco's quality standards and timelines will also be a part of your responsibilities. Furthermore, you will conduct design reviews of schematics, BOMs, layout, routing, failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective action reports, and 8D reports. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field with 7+ years of experience, a Master's degree with 4+ years of experience, or a PhD with 1+ year of relevant experience. - Experience in power design, power electronics, or analog design. - Proficiency in design topologies such as buck, buck-boost, and design for highest efficiency. - Familiarity with tools such as Concept, Allegro, LTspice, PSpice, Simplis, Mathcad, PowerDC, SIWave, or Ansys/Hyperlinx. Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge and interest in Board Mounted and Front-End Power hardware design, and solving complex analog or power design problems. - Hands-on experience with Stability analyzers, oscilloscopes, function-generators, electronic loads, bench programmable AC or DC power sources, etc. - Understanding of Firmware, Mechanical, and thermal design in Power Supply. - Strong knowledge of components, materials, manufacturing processes, quality assurance (QA), and design for manufacturing (DFM). - Experience in designing power supplies to meet international regulatory requirements, EMC requirements, reliability requirements, environmental requirements, and leading telecom industry requirements including NEBS. - Familiarity with software like Python, Labview, C++, and system design. #WeAreCisco #WeAreCisco is a global community where every individual contributes their unique skills and perspectives towards our collective goal of creating an inclusive future for all.
