Graduate Engineer Trainee (Mechanical)

Role Overview:

The Mechanical Design Engineer trainee will assist the engineering team in designing, developing, and prototyping mechanical components and assemblies. The role involves learning CAD tools, understanding manufacturing processes, supporting prototype development, and contributing to engineering documentation. This is an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates to build strong fundamentals in product design and development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using tools such as Creo, Fusion 360, or AutoCAD.
• Assist in prototype development, testing, and validation activities.
• Perform basic calculations for tolerance, fits, stress, and material selection.
• Support design verification and validation processes.
• Work with the R&D team to improve existing designs.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation (BOM, drawings, test reports, etc.).
• Coordinate with vendors for prototype fabrication and part feasibility.
• Perform design detailing and prepare drawings for manufacturing (GD&T knowledge required).
• Prepare documentation for manufacturing, assemblies, and validation.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering concepts (mechanics, materials, manufacturing).
• Hands-on knowledge of at least one CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360, AutoCAD).
• Basic understanding of GD&T, tolerances, and engineering drawings.
• Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions carefully.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical fabrication, machining, and finishing processes (paint coating, anodizing, plating, etc.).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
