Role & responsibilities Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers for trims and accessories (e.g., labels, buttons, zippers, hangtags). Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules to ensure cost-efficiency and timely availability. Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality and performance. Procurement Planning Coordinate with merchandising, design, and production teams to understand trim/accessory requirements. Plan purchases based on order schedules, production calendars, and inventory levels. Forecast future trim/accessory needs based on sales trends and production projections. Cost Control & Budgeting Ensure procurement is within budgeted cost parameters. Monitor market trends and global prices to make cost-effective sourcing decisions. Explore alternative suppliers or materials to reduce costs without compromising quality. Quality Assurance Ensure all trims and accessories meet quality standards and customer specifications. Coordinate with the quality control team to manage inspections and handle any non-conformities or rejections. Supply Chain & Inventory Management Monitor and track the movement of trims and accessories from suppliers to warehouse/production. Minimize inventory holding costs while ensuring uninterrupted supply to production. Implement systems to track consumption and reorder levels. Documentation & Compliance Oversee all purchase documentation including purchase orders, contracts, and import/export documents. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, such as testing and certifications (if applicable). Maintain audit-ready records of all purchases and supplier transactions. Cross-functional Coordination Work closely with design, merchandising, and production teams for timely and accurate sourcing. Resolve any issues related to delivery delays, quality discrepancies, or changes in requirements. Continuous Improvement Evaluate and upgrade sourcing processes for efficiency. Stay updated with new materials, eco-friendly options, and innovations in trims and accessories. Implement ERP or procurement software for better tracking and integration. Preferred candidate profile A minimum of 10 years experience in sourcing trims and accessories for export - like thread, elastic, zips, cartons, packaging, interlining, etc. with control over a purchase team and familiar with progressive sourcing and inventory management practices.
