Job Description

As a GIS Analyst - Technical Support 1, your role involves working under the guidance of senior technical support staff, professionals, and/or management to develop a foundational understanding of the company's geospatial data and technology products. Your responsibilities include expanding technical knowledge, participating in data acquisition tasks, contributing to maintenance of geospatial databases, assisting in documentation upkeep, and supporting GIS-related projects and initiatives. Here are the key responsibilities expected from you: - Develop a foundational understanding of the company's geospatial data and technology products to assist in completing department tasks. - Expand technical knowledge by obtaining/maintaining appropriate certifications and learning industry best practices. - Participate in data acquisition and conversion tasks with a focus on accuracy and completeness. - Contribute to basic maintenance tasks for geospatial databases; escalate complex problems when necessary. - Assist in maintaining documentation for GIS datasets to ensure records are up-to-date. - Contribute to GIS-related projects and initiatives. Qualifications required for the role include: - Educational background in a relevant field such as Applied Technology, Geography, Geospatial Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems. - No previous work experience is required. - Basic understanding of geospatial technology concepts and principles. - Strong attention to detail and commitment to following established procedures. - Effective communication skills and willingness to learn from supervisors and mentors. - Desire to build a career in geospatial technology and grow within the organization. - Willingness to seek training and development opportunities to advance in the field. - Ability to adapt to new technologies and support processes. Please note that the Technical Support 1 level is an individual contributor position without management responsibilities.
