Your primary responsibility will involve investigating ways to enhance Gas turbine fuel flexibility capability, particularly focusing on the usage of green fuels like hydrogen and hydrogen-enriched fuels. Your role will play a crucial part in minimizing combustion dynamics, reducing emission levels, maximizing fuel flexibility, and optimizing the lifetime of the structure. In this role, you will be utilizing various tools and methods such as network models, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), acoustic simulations, water tests, atmospheric and high-pressure combustion tests, as well as gas turbine engine tests. By enhancing your knowledge and studying the performance of numerical simulations of hydrogen-enriched and other green liquid fuels for combustion, you will be able to evaluate the results against combustion tests or development projects. As the Gas Turbine - Combustion Aero CFD Engineer, you will also have the opportunity to support the existing fleet and gain a deeper understanding of engine behaviors, further enhancing the theoretical knowledge you have developed. To excel in this role, you should possess a mechanical engineering background with over 8 years of experience in design and product development of turbomachinery components, especially Gas turbines. A graduate or postgraduate degree, preferably a Ph.D., in computational fluid dynamics, along with advanced courses in acoustics, is desired. Strong knowledge of mass flow balance, total pressure, energy fluxes heat transfer, and chemical reaction progress inside the combustion system is essential. Proficiency in software tools like STAR CCM+ and 1-D acoustic treatment is preferred. Your keen interest in Gas turbines, combustion, and numerical simulations, along with your ability to learn new methods based on in-house code and STAR-CCM+, will be beneficial in this role. Strong interpersonal skills, including being a team player, quick learner, imaginative, innovative, and adaptable, are highly valued.
