Essential Expertise

• Web Engineering: Demonstrated experience with React, Next.js, and TypeScript. Ability to build accessible user interfaces meeting WCAG 2.2 AA standards and familiarity with design systems.
• Services/APIs: Proficiency in .NET and/or Node.js, with a strong grasp of REST and GraphQL services. Skilled in API design, versioning, and schema governance.
• Testing: Hands-on practice with TDD and BDD methodologies, including unit, integration, end-to-end, and contract testing. Capable of performing non-functional testing focused on performance, reliability, and accessibility.
• CI/CD & Developer Experience: Experience creating and maintaining pipelines using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps. Familiarity with feature flags, gradual rollout strategies, and producing clear documentation such as ADRs and runbooks.
• Observability & Operations: Skilled in monitoring metrics, logs, and traces using OpenTelemetry, as well as building dashboards and configuring alerts. Maintains an SLO/SLI mindset and is prepared for on-call responsibilities.
• Security & Privacy: Knowledge of secure coding practices, secrets management, and authentication/authorization fundamentals. Capable of addressing penetration testing findings.
• AI-Powered Development: Regular user of AI coding assistants (e.g., Copilot, Cursor) with understanding of prompt engineering fundamentals including verification and critique of AI-generated output.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with event streaming technologies (Kafka, EventHub) and asynchronous programming patterns.
• Expertise in caching solutions such as Redis, and implementation of CDN/edge delivery patterns.
• Advanced data skills, including work with Aurora, PostgreSQL, pragmatic NoSQL databases, and experience in migrations and data modeling.
• Ability to deliver AI features, including prompting techniques, structured outputs (JSON schema), tool/function calling, and implementation of RAG/agentic patterns with evaluation and guardrails.
• Cloud and Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency with AWS/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Bicep, along with awareness of cost, latency, and error budgets.
• Experience in contract testing within CI environments, synthetic monitoring, accessibility audits, and performance budgeting.

Bonus / Highly Regarded Qualifications

• Background in dynamic or startup-like environments, with a track record of iterative delivery and fast feedback loops.
• Ability to influence architecture across squads, contribute to our design system evolution, and establish paved roads for engineering practices.
• Hands-on experience with AI frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, LangGraph, and AutoGen, as well as AI Gateway and model routing concepts.
• Expertise in security, including threat modeling, OWASP ASVS, OAuth/OIDC, and privacy-by-design approaches in regulated settings.
