We're looking for a brilliant freelance cosmetic chemist to help us bring our first prototype to life!
Project Overview: The "Funspire Foundation" Syndet Bar
We need an expert to develop a first-of-its-kind syndet base prototype. This isn't your average soap. We envision a product that is:
- Exceptionally Mild: Gentle enough for sensitive and youthful skin (target pH 5.5-7.0).
- High-Lathering: Creates a rich, creamy, and stable lush lather.
- Versatile & Moldable: With properties suitable for embedding, swirling, and unique designs.
- High-Quality Feel: Leaves skin feeling clean, soft, and moisturized—never tight or stripped.
- A Canvas for Fun: A stable base that can hold vibrant colors, exciting fragrances, and active ingredients.
Key Responsibilities:
As our freelance cosmetic chemist, you will:
- Lead the R&D for our initial syndet bar prototype from concept to lab sample.
- Formulate a stable, safe, and effective syndet base that meets our target specifications.
- Select and source appropriate raw materials, surfactants, and additives.
- Conduct stability testing (including cycle testing) on the initial prototype.
- Provide detailed documentation including the formula, manufacturing instructions, and preliminary safety assessments.
- Iterate on the formulation based on our feedback to achieve the desired performance and sensory profile.
Who You Are (The Ideal Candidate):
- You hold a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or a related field.
- You have proven, hands-on experience in formulating and developing syndet bars (solid format). Please be prepared to provide examples of past work.
- You possess deep knowledge of surfactant chemistry, raw materials, and product stability.
- You are a creative problem-solver who is excited by the challenge of creating a novel product.
- You have excellent communication skills and can clearly explain complex chemical concepts.
- You are self-directed, comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment, and can manage a project remotely.
