Role Overview

Firmware Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement

    firmware solutions

    for robotic systems using

    C/C++

    .
  • Develop

    motor controller software

    leveraging

    TI’s C2000 microcontrollers

    .
  • Architect and maintain

    distributed firmware architectures

    supporting real-time operations.
  • Implement and optimize

    communication protocols

    — Ethernet, USB, CAN, SPI, IC, I/O Link, etc.
  • Conduct testing in

    Software-in-the-Loop (SITL)

    and

    Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL)

    environments.
  • Debug and validate firmware using tools like

    JTAG

    ,

    logic analyzers

    , and

    oscilloscopes

    .
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with

    mechanical, electrical, robotics, and software teams

    .
  • Contribute to improving

    SDLC processes

    and maintain technical documentation.
  • Support design of

    custom communication protocol packets

    and ensure system reliability.
  • Mentor peers and uphold firmware best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in

    Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

    (M.S. preferred).
  • 2–4+ years

    of relevant experience in

    firmware / embedded systems development

    .
  • Expertise in

    C/C++

    for embedded system programming.
  • Hands-on experience with

    TI C2000 microcontrollers

    .
  • Strong understanding of

    distributed software architecture

    and

    real-time control systems

    .
  • Experience with

    digital communication protocols

    (Ethernet, USB, CAN, SPI, IC).
  • Proficiency in

    Linux, Docker, and Git

    environments.
  • Experience using

    debugging tools

    like JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Exposure to

    motor control firmware

    and low-level driver design.
  • Experience in

    SITL/HITL testing

    and

    communication packet design

    .

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing applications using

    Robot Operating System (ROS)

    .
  • Working knowledge of

    Python

    for automation and testing.
  • Experience in

    Robotics, Automotive, or Aerospace

    product development environments.
