Job Description

Our client, a Leading FMCG is looking out for a Financial Controller to be based at Mumbai.

Role Overview:

The Finance Controller will be responsible for driving financial excellence across the business. This role combines strategic financial leadership with strong operational control ensuring accurate financial reporting, efficient cost management, and robust governance aligned with the company's growth plans. The incumbent will partner closely with operations, procurement, supply chain, and sales teams to optimize profitability and working capital.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.

Analyze business performance by product line, geography, and channel to provide actionable insights.

Develop financial dashboards and KPIs to support management decision-making.

Conduct variance analysis (Budget vs Actual) and recommend corrective measures.

2. Costing & Profitability Management:

Establish and monitor product costing models (packaging, processing, cold chain, etc.).

Support cost optimization initiatives in procurement, logistics, and manufacturing.

Drive marginal contribution and SKU-level profitability analysis.

Work closely with plant controllers and production heads to monitor yield losses and energy efficiency.

3. Accounting & Compliance:

Ensure accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing.

Maintain books of accounts as per IND AS / IFRS standards.

Oversee internal controls, audit compliance, and statutory filings (GST, TDS, Income Tax, ROC, etc.).

Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulators.

4. Treasury & Working Capital Management:

Monitor daily cash flow, fund flow, and optimize working capital (Receivables, Payables, Inventory).

Manage banking relationships, credit lines, and FX exposures (for import/export).

Evaluate and implement digital payment and ERP integration processes.

5. Strategic Finance & Business Partnering:

Partner with leadership on capex planning, ROI analysis, and new product launches.

Support business expansion, M&A evaluations, and financial due diligence.

Develop and implement financial risk management frameworks.

6. Systems, Process & Controls:

Strengthen ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / Tally Prime) for automation and real-time reporting.

Implement SOPs across the value chain from procurement to retail distribution.

Build a strong culture of financial discipline and transparency across teams.

Qualifications & Experience:

CA / CMA / MBA (Finance) with 812 years of experience, preferably in the Dairy / Beverages / FMCG sector or Big 4 (EY, PWC, Deloitte etc.)

Proven expertise in plant finance, costing, and commercial operations.

Experience handling multi-plant, multi-state operations and distribution networks.

Strong knowledge of IND AS, GST, and direct tax regulations.

Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / Tally ERP).
